The CPA Letter

1973-2009

The CPA Letter began publication in 1973. A news report to AICPA members, the monthly newsletter covered technical developments, professional issues, legislative and regulatory matters, advocacy initiatives, AICPA news and events, and membership benefits.

Over the years, evolving technology has made it possible for us to deliver ever more timely news updates and information. The AICPA capitalized on this trend in 2008 when it created CPA Letter Daily, the Institute’s first daily newsletter (sign up now for this free publication). Since 2002, the weekly AICPA News Update has been supplementing the monthly newsletter, which became a digital publication in September 2008. In addition, the JournalofAccountancy.com website provides Web-only, real-time news stories and analysis, videos and more.

In light of members’ proven use of those valuable resources and research indicating a preference for an online environment, The CPA Letter was phased out in November 2009 and replaced with CPA Letter Daily. The AICPA’s resources are now dedicated to the newer media solutions, including the AICPA News page on this website. Keeping CPAs informed on critical accounting, business and financial developments is an AICPA top priority.

The CPA Letter has been a respected news source throughout its history and we look forward to continuing in its esteemed tradition with our enhanced information services.
