Pathway to the CFF Credential
Step 1: Learn
The AICPA offers a CFF Exam Review Course to help you prepare for and pass the CFF® credential exam. CFF Candidates must meet the minimum education requirement of 75 hours of forensic accounting related continuing professional development (CPD) within the 5-year period preceding the date of the CFF application. Credential candidates that earn their Master of Forensic Accounting from the University of Toronto within 5-years of applying for the credential also satisfy the CFF Credential Education requirements and are granted access to sit for the CFF Examination one-time upon completion of their degree requirements.
Step 2: Pass the Exam
The Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) Exam Content Specification Outline (CSO) includes details of subject areas covered on the exam. The CFF exam is a two part exam. Each part is a two hour multiple-choice format exam covering one half of the CFF CSO. The exam is offered year-round on a continuous basis either online in a remote-proctored environment or at one of 300 Kryterion test center locations across North America.
Step 3: Gain Experience
CFF candidates must have a minimum of 1,000 hours of business experience in forensic accounting as reflected in the CFF body of knowledge within the five-year period preceding the date of the credential application.
Step 4: Get Credentialed
You can now apply for the CFF credential using the online application. You will attest that you hold an active CPA license or recognized international equivalent, have passed the CFF exam, have met the education requirement of 75 CPD hours and have satisfied the minimum 1,000 hour business experience requirement in the past 5 years.
