Register for Fiduciary Activities Web Event (invite your clients!)
If you audit a state or local government (SLG), you know the buzz surrounding the impending implementation of GASB Statement No. 84, Fiduciary Activities. In response, the GAQC is offering a Web event, Fiduciary Activities: Understanding the Impacts of GASB 84, on Thursday, November 15, 2018, from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM (Eastern Time) that is open to both GAQC members and the public so that you can invite your SLG clients. Read on for more details.
While the implementation of GASB Statement No. 84 may still seem far off, the new standard has a far-reaching impact and may change the reporting entity of governments with student activity funds, pension or other postemployment benefit plans, existing agency funds, and more. Auditee and auditor consideration of the impacts now, in advance of the effective date (i.e., 12/31/2019 year-ends), will greatly help the transition. Specifically, this session will cover:
- Key terms and definitions related to fiduciary activities;
- Criteria in determining fiduciary activities;
- Impact on financial reporting including net position and flows statements; and
- Custodial fund considerations
The presenters for this event, both of whom have followed the development of this standard from its inception and are members of the AICPA State and Local Government Expert Panel, are as follows: Heather Acker, CPA, Baker Tilly and Jeff Markert, CPA, KPMG LLP.
GAQC Member Registration: GAQC members can register now using the CPE or no-CPE options.
Public Registration: Please consider inviting your SLG clients to register for a public CPE offering of this event using the public registration link.
To ensure you receive CPE for this Web event, please complete your online registration by noon on Thursday, November 15th. If you are interested in registering a group, the above Web event registration page provides you with "how to" and pricing information. A "Webcast Group Viewing" document also provides additional instructions.
Register for 2018 Yellow Book Rebroadcast
The GAQC is also holding a CPE rebroadcast of the Web event, The 2018 Yellow Book: What You Need to Know, on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM (Eastern Time). We received terrific feedback on the original offering of this event and several members asked if we could rebroadcast it soon so that their staff could participate. This event will cover the key changes made in the new 2018 edition of Government Auditing Standards, as well as a refresher on other important areas of the standards that have not changed. It will also help you understand why you need to be ready to implement the auditor independence changes well before the stated effective date. Register now!* * * * *
