AICPA testifies at DOL Advisory Council hearings on cybersecurity issues affecting health benefit plans
The AICPA recently testified before the DOL's ERISA Advisory Council (Advisory Council) on the various ways in which CPAs can address clients' cybersecurity efforts in employee bebfit plans. The AICPA testimony was part of the Advisory Council's July 18-20 hearings on cybersecurity issues affecting health benefit plans. The AICPA testimony addressed cybersecurity risks faced by health benefit plans; the plan auditor's responsibility for evaluating cybersecurity risk and controls in an audit of a plan's financial statements; cybersecurity services CPAs can provide -- outside the basic financial statements -- to help plan management assess the effectiveness of a service organization's controls and to communicate such information to users; and provided an overview of AICPA's System and Organization Control (SOC) Suite of Services and related reporting frameworks, with a focus on how SOC 2 reports and SOC for Cybersecurity reports can provide plan management with information about a service organization's (or other organization's) cybersecurity efforts.

Register for the July 27 Rebroadcast - Designated Partner 2022 Audit Planning Webcast
The third and final rebroadcast of the 2022 Designated Partner Audit Planning webcast (January 22 live event) will be offered on Wednesday, July 27 from 1:00-3:00 pm (paid CPE credit option only). This webinar is for firm designated audit quality partners to assist them in preparing their firms for the 2022 EBP audit season. All designated audit quality partners of EBPAQC member firms are required to participate in the annual Designated Partner Audit Planning webinar (either live, rebroadcast or by viewing the archived event). If you participated in the January 19 live event or a prior rebroadcast of the event or watched the archived event you do not need to participate in this rebroadcast.
