This series is an excellent program for staff or in-charge auditors who are new to ERISA audits, as it provides an understanding of 401(k) plans and how they work, information about EBP audit planning and risk assessment, and practical information about unique plan audit areas. Health and Welfare Plan Audits- 2-part webinar series - May 29 and June 3
The EBPAQC is sponsoring two Health and Welfare Plan Audits webinars on May 29 (Part 1) and June 3 (Part 2). Participants will learn best practices for auditing health and welfare benefit plans. Part 1 will cover the various types of health and welfare plans and plan arrangements, plan operations, and the current industry and regulatory environment. Part 2 will discuss audit planning and risk assessment considerations; specific accounting, auditing and reporting considerations, and practice tips. The presenters will include EBPAQC Executive Committee members Debbie Smith, Grant Thornton LLP, and Doug Bertossi, CliftonLarsonAllen LLP.
Managers and Supervisors Audit Planning -June 4 (rebroadcast)
This is a rebroadcast of the 2019 Managers and Supervisors Audit Planning Webinar (originally held on April 26). This webinar is specifically designed for individuals who manage or supervise ERISA EBP audits to assist them in planning for their 2019 engagements. It will include a reminder about important areas where EBP audit deficiencies are common, an update on the DOL activities and findings in their continuing firm and workpaper review programs, examples of deficient work found by Peer Review and how to avoid those deficiencies, and a discussion of new standards and industry developments. Common Plan Operational Errors -June 5
The Common Plan Operational Errors webinar is a follow-up to the January 30, Tax and Compliance Issues in Employee Benefit Plans webinar and will be a roundtable discussion on operational errors that plan auditors see in their plan audits. The panel of experts, which include ERISA attorneys and a plan auditor, will discuss operational issues commonly seen in employee benefit plans and the role of the ERISA attorneys and plan auditors in discovering issues; concerns for the plan sponsor and plan auditor; and methods of correcting. Some of the discussion topics will include applying the definition of compensation, elective deferrals, participant eligibility, nondiscrimination testing, vesting and use of forfeitures, controlled groups and participant loans. Panelists for this webinar are EBPAQC Executive Committee member Debbie Smith, Grant Thornton, and ERISA attorneys Keith Mong, Esq., Grant Thornton and Mary Samsa, Esq., Akerman.
Designated Audit Quality Partner Audit Planning- June 6 (rebroadcast)
This webinar is for firm designated audit quality partners to assist them in preparing their firms for the 2019 EBP audit season. Discussion topics for this webinar include: DOL update; key accounting and auditing issues for EBP audits this year and on the near horizon; EBP best practices and audit quality initiatives; new center tools and resources; and ask the experts. All designated audit quality partners of EBPAQC member firms are required to participate in the annual Designated Partner Audit Planning webinar. If you have participated in the January 25 live event or previous rebroadcast you do not need to participate in this rebroadcast. Panelists for this webinar are Ian MacKay, AICPA EBPAQC; Jennifer Allen, Crowe LLP; Josie Hammond, RSM US LLP; and Michael Auerbach, Chief Accountant, DOL EBSA.
Tax and Compliance Issues in Employee Benefit Plans- June 12 (rebroadcast)
