Kimberly Ellison-Taylor, CPA, CGMA, chairman of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), paid visits to two members of Congress earlier this month who serve on U.S. House of Representatives committees with jurisdiction over key areas of importance to the accounting profession.

She met with Representatives Joyce Beatty, a Democrat from Ohio, and Terri A. Sewell, a Democrat from Alabama, in order to strengthen the accounting profession’s ties on Capitol Hill.

Rep. Beatty serves on the House Financial Services Committee, and Rep. Sewell serves on the House Ways and Means Committee.  Reps. Beatty and Sewell have been friends to the profession throughout their careers.
