Barry Melancon meets with CPAs in Congress

Barry Melancon, CPA, CGMA, president and CEO of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) met with the CPA and Accountants Caucus on February 2 for a discussion about several of the profession’s issues. The meeting included both Members of Congress and staff.

Melancon provided an overview of the future of the accounting profession, the profession’s efforts in cybersecurity and the AICPA’s enhancing audit quality initiatives. In addition, the group discussed tax reform and the importance of the independent accounting standard setting process.
